The Challenge

A George Town F&B operator had built a recognisable brand over four years but had never formally registered their name or logo. A competitor with a similar mark had begun operating in the same district.

What We Did

We conducted a clearance search, assessed the conflict risk, and filed applications across two relevant classes. We also advised on prior use documentation that would support their position.

The Outcome

Both applications progressed through examination without objection. The client now has two registered marks and an ongoing monitoring arrangement for their brand name.

The Challenge

An independent inventor in Kedah had developed an agricultural tool with a novel clamping mechanism. He had no prior experience with patent law and was concerned the idea might already exist in some form.

What We Did

Rajan conducted a prior art search and provided a written patentability assessment. After confirming a clear path, we drafted a complete specification and filed a patent application with MyIPO.

The Outcome

The application passed examination without substantial objection. The inventor now holds a granted patent and has had initial discussions with a manufacturing partner about licensing the design.

The Challenge

A Penang-based design agency had begun producing original illustration work for commercial clients but had no formal licensing terms. One client had begun using the work in ways that fell outside the original brief.

What We Did

Nurul Izzah reviewed the existing client agreements, identified the gaps, and drafted a standard licensing agreement for future commissions. We also advised on how to address the existing unauthorised use without escalation.

The Outcome

The existing matter was resolved through a licensing amendment. The agency now uses a standard agreement with all new clients, and one of their works has been formally licensed to a third publisher.
